Gutter Cleaning in Lake and McHenry County

We clear the leaves and grit out of your gutters, flush them, and check that every downspout runs. The outside faces of the gutters are already part of a house wash; this is the inside, so water goes where it should this spring.

Before and after

The right pressure for every surface. Here is the difference it makes.

Siding and roofs get a soft wash: close to garden-hose pressure, with a cleaning solution that neutralizes what is growing there, so it does not come back in a month. Driveways, walks and pavers get pressure washed with a surface cleaner, so the concrete comes out even.

Gutter cleaning, explained

Clean gutters are the cheapest protection a house has against water. Here is what we do and when it is worth doing.

What we do

We clear the leaves, seeds and grit out of the gutters, flush them with water and check that every downspout runs clear.

Inside versus outside

Cleaning the outside faces of the gutters is part of every house wash. Gutter cleaning is the inside. The black stripes many gutters get, often called tiger striping, are oxidized paint and road film on the outside face. A house wash removes most of it, and heavy striping may need a separate treatment, which we will tell you about on the walk-around.

Why it matters

Clogged gutters overflow at the corners and spill against the foundation. In winter the standing water freezes, and the weight pulls gutters away from the fascia. Overflow also feeds the green streaks that show up on the siding below.

When to book

Late fall, after the leaves have dropped, and again in spring before the heavy rains. Homes under oaks and maples usually need both. Adding it to a house wash saves a trip.

Questions people ask us

Do you clean the outside of the gutters too?

The outside faces are included in a house wash. Gutter cleaning is the inside: leaves, seeds and the grit that clogs downspouts.

What are the black stripes on my gutters?

Oxidized paint and road film, sometimes called tiger striping. A house wash removes most of it. Heavy striping may need a separate treatment; we will tell you on the walk-around.

Why do my gutters overflow when it rains?

Usually a clog at a downspout or a gutter full of seeds and grit. Flushing finds it. Overflowing gutters also feed green streaks on the siding below.

When is the best time?

Late fall after the leaves drop, and spring before the heavy rains. Adding it to a house wash saves a trip.

When do I pay?

If you are home, after we walk around the property with you and you give us the OK. If nobody will be home, we take payment ahead of time, or you can leave a check out for us before we start. Nothing is charged when you book.
